Spreepark Art Space Residency Programme
Since its launch in 2024, the Spreepark Art Space residency programme has offered artists from Germany and abroad a space for artistic research at the intersection of art, landscape and public space – with the former Spreepark amusement park as a unique place of transformation.
During the ongoing structural and conceptual redesign of the park, the programme remains a central component of our artistic commitment. The prevoius international residency programme endet as planned at the end of 2025. The residencies for 2024 and 2025 – awarded through open calls – have produced numerous site-specific, experimental and socially relevant projects. A special highlight is the exhibition “Transient Landscapes”, in which the artistic works of the 2025 residency cohorts are being presented to the public.
Reorientation of the residency programme
At the start of 2026, the international residency programme underwent a fundamental reorientation: it is now organised and curated in close collaboration with a rotating group of partner institutions. Instead of open calls, residencies are therefore awarded by invitation – with the aim of promoting thematic depth, interdisciplinary exchange and sustainable collaborations.
The new phase of the programme kicks off with a two-year partnership as part of the Ecological Futures project – a joint initiative of the Goethe-Institut and ARCH+ – as well as the international Urban Streams project, which explores urban waterways and their ecological, social and cultural significance and is being realised in collaboration with four EUNIC partners: the British Council, the Finland Institute, the Embassy of Ireland and the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia.
