On Water PARCOURS | Becoming Porous

“On Water PARCOURS” invites participants to experience water as a connecting element between bodies, landscapes, infrastructures, and forms of knowledge. Drawing on the concept of hydrofeminism, coined by Astrida Neimanis, water is understood not as a resource but as a medium of relationships—porous, circulating, and essential to both human and more-than-human life.

As part of the BUA event series “On Water PARCOURS” and the international residency “Urban Streams,” the programme brings together Berlin-based water research, international artistic positions, and the urban public in a shared exchange. Researchers from the Berlin University Alliance, artists from the Urban Streams residency, and additional guests explore together how knowledge about water can be communicated not only scientifically, but also explored artistically, perceived physically, and shared collectively.

Through a diverse, full-day programme of workshops, guided tours, sound works, installations, and family-oriented formats, water knowledge becomes an immediate, shared experience—connecting artists, scientists, and the public, and fostering dialogue, including with the water itself. The programme includes, among others:

  • Interactive concert performance “PEACES SO FAR”
  • Artist Talk: Urban Streams Residents
  • Methods of Care for Rivers – participatory audience discussion
  • Participatory mapping workshop
  • Family workshop “Lucky Salmon Parcours for Children (and adults are welcome to join)”
  • Guided tour of the Spreepark construction site “Collected Raindrops on a Wild Journey through Spreepark”
  • Sound performance “Imagining Underwater Futures”
