In June 2026, “On Water. Parcours” and Spreepark Art Space will host a full-day program inviting visitors to explore, co-create, and investigate the theme of water.“
On Water. Water Knowledge in Berlin” is a project of the Berlin University Alliance (BUA). The BUA is the excellence alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. “On Water” presents current research by scholars from the partner institutions, contributing to the development of viable solutions for the protection of water and its equitable, resource-efficient use.
As part of the project, the BUA—together with the Humboldt Lab at the Humboldt Forum—developed the exhibition “On Water. Water Knowledge in Berlin.” The exhibition is dedicated to water as a vital resource—one that is increasingly becoming unbalanced. Droughts, floods, and pollution illustrate the profound impact of human activity on natural water cycles.
The project and exhibition are accompanied by participatory formats. “On Water. Parcours” brings together art, science, and urban society along Berlin’s waterways and within selected cultural institutions. At its core lies the question of the role water plays in a sustainable urban future. Interactive formats connect scientific research with everyday experience, make hydrological processes tangible, and open up new perspectives on the element of water. In this way, open spaces for knowledge exchange and collaboration emerge, generating impulses for a sustainable and resilient urban society.
