As we currently do not have the infrastructure to accommodate children, we review which arrangements may be feasible on a case-by-case basis – together with the invited residents.
We explicitly welcome BIPoC and LGBTQIA+ individuals. We are happy to discuss individual needs confidentially before, during or after an invitation in order to ensure a safe and accessible stay. We also welcome suggestions as to how we can continue to improve our residency programme.
The restaurant and beer garden at the Eierhäuschen experience a high volume of visitors – especially at weekends – as well as occasional special events. Opening hours vary seasonally. At present, we cannot offer discounts on food or drinks. Shops and supermarkets can be found in the neighbouring residential area.
Each of the fourrooms with adjoining workspaces in the Eierhäuschen is equipped with basic furnishings (bed, table, wardrobe, chair, lamps, etc.). The communal lounge and shared kitchen are also fully furnished. Residents may bring their own computers or laptops. We are happy to assist in the search for materials or responding to specific artistic needs and can help identify suitable places and contact points.
Residents receive a contractually defined fee to cover living expenses during the working phase on site.
Spreepark Art Space does not provide a production budget. However, within the means available, we are pleased to support workshops, exchanges or other forms of public presentation during the stay – by mutual agreement.
Residents are responsible for organising their own daily working routines and for structuring their time on site. The expected outcome of the residency is defined and agreed upon jointly within the contract.
We welcome residents with disabilities. The available living and working spaces include one low-barrier unit. We are happy to clarify individual requirements in confidential conversations and assess how we can best support the stay.
To support sustainable, low-emission mobility during the residency, we provide bicycles for residents.
The site is well connected to public transport: the nearest bus stop on Hauptstraße is approximately a 10-minute walk away; the closest S-Bahn station is around 25 minutes on foot or roughly 10 minutes by bicycle.
The conditions of the regional residency differ from those of the international programme, as it takes place in the context of a school partnership in Berlin and follows different structural requirements. We are happy to provide detailed information or respond to individual enquiries.
Participation in the residencies is by curated invitation only. We do not offer open calls or application procedures. Invitations are extended to artists and practitioners whose work operates at the intersections of art, ecology and urban research, and whose practice aligns thematically with the respective programme phase.
Pets are not permitted anywhere in the Eierhäuschen.
Residency means presence. We expect the highest possible level of on-site attendance from all invited participants throughout their stay. Any exceptions should be coordinated with us in advance. Our office is ideally located directly beneath the residency rooms, allowing us to be available during regular working hours.
Exchange between Berlin-based cultural practitioners and the invited residents is a key component of the programme. Joint excursions and exhibition visits, regular meetings with the curatorial team and tailored networking opportunities form part of the core offer – open to extensions and ideas that may emerge during the stay.
As an arts venue located within a protected landscape area, we place great importance on acting responsibly towards both people and nature. This includes light and noise reduction, waste avoidance, low-emission mobility and the mindful use of resources. We welcome active support as well as suggestions to further develop our sustainability guidelines.
Spreepark Art Space does not cover travel or transport costs for invited participants.
