Artist-Led Tour: Bridges Spreepark – Iván Argote Presents his Works in the Spreepark

with Iván Argote und Katja Aßmann (Artistic Director Spreepark Art Space)

To mark the opening of his exhibition "A Place to Stay", Iván Argote will be leading a tour across the construction site to show his permanent installation "Bridges Spreepark". Around the island near the Ferris wheel, five bridges were constructed across the Grand Canal. Plants now grow where boats once glided across the water. Iván Argote’s sculptures invite visitors to gain new perspectives on the man-made landscape around the Ferris wheel and to reflect not only on the public space itself but also on the encounters and relationships of the people who use it.

Iván Argote was born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1983. He now lives and works in Paris. Argote is a contemporary multimedia artist whose work explores the dynamics of public space and collective memory. Through sculpture, public installations, film, painting, and performance, Argote challenges dominant narratives with a blend of critique, humor, and tenderness that encourages reflection and constructive dialogue. He has created major public installations worldwide — from Venice and New York to Paris, Bogotá, São Paulo, Douala, and London.
