Sunday Walk - on the mineral heritage at Spreepark
16:00 - 17:30
With geoscientist Dr. Robert Bussert, the artist Stefan Shankland, and Jenny Sréter.
We invite you to a Sunday walk around the Spreepark. Along the Spree and the RE.USE.UM, we will take a look at the construction site and changes on the Spreepark site and finally dive into the Plänterwald. Dr. Robert Bussert is a research associate at the Institute of Applied Geosciences and Head of the Sedimentological Laboratory at TU Berlin. On this walk, he will take us from the Scandinavian Ice Age to present-day Berlin and tell us how the erratic blocks ended up in and around the Spreepark. As a scientific expert, he advised the artist Stefan Shankland in preparation for the exhibition A Matter of Material and analyzed demolition materials and erratic blocks at Spreepark.
In conversation with Jenny Sréter, head of the education programme at Spreepark Art Space, Bussert and Shankland will share with us, what it was like to work together on an artistic project that - at first glance - consists only of waste. Stefan Shankland draws on his research for the exhibition and gives us an insight into the collaboration between art and science.
