Experimental Cartography and Storytelling from April to June 2023
Exhibition at the Mero-Halle in Spreepark: July 1st from 4:30 pm to 8 pm / July 2nd from 12:30 pm to 5 pm
Design students from FH Potsdam, under the direction of Prof. Myriel Milićević, will explore Spreepark as a changing habitat through a series of field studies. How can the disappearance of species and the arrival of new organisms be made visible through experimental cartography? How do our perspectives on this habitat change when we measure horizons underwater and in the ground, time travel through bee choreography, take the viewpoint of amphibians, perceive plants acoustically, or consider them as archives of metallic elements? This is not only about visual representation, but also about mapping as a process. For this purpose, the students observe Spreepark as an urban ecosystem from different perspectives. They sensitize their own perception, design their own scales, and build surveying and observation instruments.
The experimental mappings will be presented in an exhibition conceived by the students on July 1st and 2nd at the Mero-Halle.
