Marie-Louise Jones
Marie-Louise Jones is an award-winning interdisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation, material research, and participatory practice.
She recently undertook an MWAM residency with Makerversity at Somerset House (2025). Previous project partners include Barbican Centre (2023), Saatchi Gallery (2021), and Tate Modern (2020). Her awards include the London Festival of Architecture Fitz&Sits Winner (2025), the East London Impact Scholars Award (2024), a shortlist for the Davidson Prize (2023), Arts Council England Awards (2022), and a scholarship for the LabVerde Residency in the Amazon Rainforest (2022).
Jones completed her MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins (2021) as the recipient of the Mona Hatoum Scholarship. After graduating, she worked as Mona Hatoum’s assistant, gaining extensive experience in contemporary sculpture and installation. Her academic activities include lectures, talks, and seminars at University of the Arts London, University of East London, Winchester School of Art, and Kingston University.
Her work explores themes of transformation, interconnectedness, and planetary care. The practice has two interconnected strands: one investigates living, adaptive systems in which sculpture responds to its environment, while the other focuses on material transformation through waste and experimental materials. Using both traditional and digital processes, she examines destruction and renewal, exploring how acts of making can foster repair, care, and more thoughtful relationships with the material world.
