Lohana Montelo

Lohana Montelo was born in Rio de Janeiro, where she lives and works. Her practice encompasses art, research and pedagogy grounded in ancestral knowledge. Working across sculpture, installation, drawing, photography and writing, Montelo combines aesthetic experience and agroecology in order to regenerate fertile relationships with the infinite.

She cultivates agroforestry systems in urban spaces, particularly Agroflorest Govz ao Pé da Letras in Rio de Janeiro. Montelo is currently completing a Master’s degree in Arts at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts – Sculpture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She collaborates with the Laboratório de Estudos Anticoloniais (LEAC) and the Rede de Agroecologia da UFRJ.

In 2025, she was a resident of Cidade Floresta / City as a Forest, supported by the Goethe-Institut Rio.
