Böhler & Orendt
Since their artistic collaboration began in 2008, Matthias Böhler, born in Aachen in 1981, and Christian Orendt, born in Sighisoara, Romania in 1980, have been exploring the tragic, uncanny and often absurd relationship between humans and the planet.
Böhler & Orendt have taken part in numerous exhibitions in national and international institutions, including solo exhibitions at the Neues Museum in Nuremberg (2024), Berlinische Galerie in Berlin (2023), Kunst Haus Wien (2023), and the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art in Charleston, USA (2018).
The duo has also developed works for public spaces, such as KALA HET DIWAI (2018) for the Bavarian State Office for Statistics in Fürth and KWIRKI, DER SENDBOTE (2022) for KÖR (Kunst im öffentlichen Raum) in Vienna.
Starting in 2027, their most recent work, the interactive tree installation TOWARDS HUMANITY!, will become part of the Spreepark collection of permanent artworks.
