A WONDERFUL WORLD - Opening weekend
11am to 9pm
A WONDERFUL WORLD is a journey through a world of remodelled ruins, forgotten objects and life itself, which makes its way through the cracks. Like an amusement park, the multi-layered installation guides visitors through soundtracks and scenes accompanied by ghosts of the past, present and future. With its playful, labyrinthine structure, the immersive course through the egg house conjures up a discourse of experience around the theme of ‘wonder’ - and raises questions about which worlds we want to see and inhabit.
The exhibition centres around three new audiovisual works by the Gray Voice Ensemble, led by composer and creative director Elisabeth Wood. Shot largely on the grounds of the Spreepark, the videos show members of the ensemble and guests performing their collaboratively developed songs amidst the abandoned park architecture and sprawling plant life. An abstract narrative unfolds between the performers of the choir, who are between 6 and 76 years old and dressed in the otherworldly ‘Wesen’ costumes by designer Kaur Hensel.
