Eierhäuschen opened

With the opening of the Eierhäuschen in March 2024, Spreepark Art Space has been given a permanent home.

On Friday, 22 March 2024, the time had finally come: with the exhibition PARK INSIGHTS. Four positions from artistic research, the Spreepark Art Space opened its doors permanently in the Eierhäuschen. From now on, exhibitions on the topics of landscape, nature, architecture and public space will be shown in this recently renovated 19th century building next to Berlin's famous Spreepark.

Once a popular destination for day-trippers, the venue combines a restaurant and an art space with a no-cost exhibition area, as well as artist residencies that include living and working spaces. Visitors will be able to enjoy art, a diverse educational and public program, and gastronomy – all in one place.

The building was officially opened with speeches by Britta Behrendt, State Secretary for Climate Action and the Environment, Senate Department for Urban Mobility, Transport, Climate Action and the Environment, Christoph Schmidt, Managing Director of Grün Berlin and Katja Aßmann, Artistic Director of Spreepark Art Space. The artists Marcus Maeder, Sabine Scho and Annett Zinsmeister gave insights into their artistic work.

Opening Programme

A varied programme of music, talks, workshops, guided tours and activities for children and families invited all visitors and interested people to explore and rediscover the building on the opening weekend. The programme was developed in collaboration with the artists and made it possible to experience the artists' working methods and their artistic research in the Spreepark. Like the exhibition, the various free formats also brought the park into the Eierhäuschen and offered special perspectives and insights.
