The Gray Voice Ensemble
The Gray Voice Ensemble e.V. is an interdisciplinary community choir project in Berlin that was founded in 2013 by composer and artistic director Elisabeth Wood. Invested in the space between the voice and the extra-verbal, the amateur ensemble sings songs created through the collective authorship of The Anonymous Writing Group/Albert McCloud. The compositions work decidedly with the idiosyncratic characteristics of amateur musicians.
Each year, the group develops a new site-specific programme in tandem with a variety of artists, locations and institutions. Previous performance venues have included Schinkel Pavillon, Uferstudios, SPOiLER Aktionsraum, Tropez in Sommerbad Humboldthain, Volksbühne Berlin, District School without Center, Museum Ludwig Köln. The ensemble’s 2024 programme is dedicated to Spreepark and the Eierhäuschen, focusing on intergenerational exchange for its development.
